ICONIC PIECES INSPIRED BY OBJECTS & PLACES WE HOLD DEAR
Ten years ago, we started one of Swedens most eclectic vintage stores with carefully selected design furniture, interior accessories and art that attracted buyers from all over the world. The journey started in a small scale in addition to our regular jobs in fashion, we started going to flea markets and buying home everything from furniture to decorative items to our apartment. Quickly, the home and the storage were filled and soon we realized that there was a market to sell vintage items.
To start the journey and create a business of our hobby, step one was to “brainstorm” a plan for our flea bargains. We were lucky to borrow some friends’ house in Barcelona where we gathered inspiration in the Catalan city. “It was a couple of evenings in the garden with too much wine, but then the idea of what we wanted to do grew, and while Dusty Springfield sang ”Son of A Preacher man“, we decided on our name. Since then it has been our baby - Dusty Deco.
Edin Kjellvertz, born in 1979, and Lina Kjellvertz, born in 1981, started their careers in the fashion industry. Their combined passion for design and love of collecting unique pieces for their home naturally transitioned them into the world of interior design, culminating in the establishment of Dusty Deco. They turned their hobby of sourcing vintage and distinctive items into a global design brand and today, they inspire with their own designs with a signature blend of vintage and contemporary, creating timeless collections from their base in Mallorca.
DUSTY DECO IS BORN
The first purchase trip went to the US where the focus was set on finding industrial items such as rusty cans and signs that we sold in our first store at Gärdet in Stockholm. Subsequently, the style of Dusty Deco has gradually evolved along the way, from two stores at Söder in Stockholm, a smaller store at Östermalm and an old 600-square garage on Brahegatan. Today we have our doors open in the flagship store at Linnegatan 13 in Stockholm, our Showroom in Los Angeles and our Showroom in Palma de Mallorca. Here we create living rooms that we love. We carefully select design classics, and design furniture with character next to contemporary art.
We have made purchases from all over the world, met incredibly exciting people in different markets and squares, and the journey and meetings have always motivated us and made us grow. The trip has been fantastic and we have never given up on our basic idea of just buying things we love and would like to have in our home.
After a decade of distinctive experiences the next step was suddenly clear for us; to begin creating our own collection of striking pieces for our home that can inspire others, the way that we have been fortunate enough to experience ourselves.
Since 3 years our family lives on the Spanish island of Mallorca where we now have our showroom in a huge old Mallorquin apartment where we are showing the Dusty Deco collection, art, objects and vintage pieces that we love. Alongside the showroom we are refurbishing an old carpentry shop we bought a few years back. At that time there was neither electricity nor water but we saw great potential as the premises had beautiful windows and a sparkling garden.
